Cantonments Act 1924 (Revised 2006) obligates Cantonment Board to provide basic health services to all the citizens residing within the Cantonment. For this purpose Cantonment Board has established a Cantonment General Hospital which is functioning since 1880 to cater to the health needs of residents of the Cantonment, employees of the Cantonment Board and nearby areas of the Cantonment where no medical facility of comparison exists. During 1961 on occasion of centenary celebration of late Motilal Nehru, the hospital was renamed as MOTILAL NEHRU HOSPITAL , JABALPUR CANTT.
The present new hospital building was constructed in 1987 and ancillary facilities like new Labour Room and Special Room Block, lift, Canteen, bridge-connecting wards to OPD were added in 1999. OPD and indoor medical services are backed up by the basic Lab facilities, X-Ray, ECG and Sonography. Various National Health programs including family welfare and immunization programs are carried out by SVP CGH. The capacity of Hospital is total 40 beds. The hospital is located in Ward No. 4 Sadar Bazar of Jabalpur Cantt.
